Bowen Therapy was developed by Tom Bowen in Melbourne in the mid 1950's and is now practiced in 31 countries across the world. The Bowen Technique is a safe, simple but effective body balancing system using gentle movements on soft tissue at a series of key points across the body.
These movements stimulate energy flow, releasing tension, strains and blockages assisting the body to reset and heal itself naturally, resulting in fast and lasting relief from pain and discomfort.
A treatment comprises of a practitioner applying sequences of small gentle moves at specific sites on the body which correlate markedly with
acu-points on the meridian energy system. There is no forceful manipulation, just a light manoeuvring of muscles, tendons or ligaments, pleasant to the recipient.
The treatment is very gentle, relaxing and safe for nearly all ages and can be performed through light clothing. Bowen is not an ongoing therapy. In many cases, the recipient can expect substantial relief or even full recovery after just 3-5 sessions.
The Bowen technique assists with the balancing of a broad range of conditions. The treatment is wholistic and offers relief from pain and tension. It assists in the balancing of muscles and the aligning of the skeleton which provides increased mobility and freedom of movement. Bowen also improves circulation, lymphatic and venous draining, assimilation of nutrients and elimination of toxins, increases joint mobility and assists in improved posture.
